Adopt-a-Village
A great deal of money has been spent in Africa by governments, the United Nations and other non-governmental organizations on humanitarian services yet the majority of the problems persist. There are many reasons of this but two stand out more than most.

  • ACCOUNTABILITY
  • URBAN SPRALL

Accountability for most people trying to do business or provide aid to Africa the issue of corruption and accountability is a challenge that is very difficult to overcome. Ensuring that the resources invested, proceeds, profits or financial aid reaches the people it is intended to help is very difficult indeed. One good example is the oil industry. Even though oil companies take most of the risk in oil exploration in Africa. Local governments receive between 60% to 80% or revenues according to the Washington Post. Despite this most revenue, as in many other places do not affect the lives of the majority of people living in oil producing countries. Most of it is lost to corruption and lack of accountability.

Urbanization
The perception in rural Africa is that moving to urban areas will improve ones lifestyle. Without access to safe drinking water, education, health care, employment and technology one can easily understand the temptation. The truth is that cities in Africa cannot absorb the migration from rural to urban areas. The result of migration is over crowding, health crisis, and the spread of AIDS, slums and poverty. It is impossible for any third world government to provide services under those conditions and it absorbs money that should be used for capital investment and development.

A far better approach would be to improve the lives of people in rural areas.

The objectives of the Adopt-A-Village program are to provide an opportunity for members of the Diaspora to become involved with their roots by linking their churches with villages and small communities in Africa. This program brings the reconciliation process to the Grass Roots, and gives it tangible meaning not just the symbolic. The church provides opportunities for its members to assist in making life better in rural Africa through.

  • Water Systems
  • Health Care
  • Education
  • Micro Business
  • Agriculture
  • Technology

This hand on approach ensures accountability and proper resource management. Its effect on the National Economy would be staggering if done in sufficient numbers.

Here's How It Works
RADCORP promotes the Adopt-A-Village Program to both White and Black Churches encouraging them to partner with each other in adopting villages. This allows racial reconciliation to take place as well.

The goal is to link one hundred thousand churches in the Diaspora with villages and local communities in Africa. The African Leaders who have been exposed to Adopt-A-Village welcome the concept because it:

  • Provides real answers to problems they are facing every day.
  • Links Americans, American Churches and businesses to their National Economies.
  • Renews ties with the Diaspora and their pool of knowledge and experience.
  • Halts the migration from rural to urban centers and the unwanted consequences.
  • Improves the standard of living in rural areas and its impact on the national economy.
  • Promotes urban to rural migrations.
