It is not RADCORP’S intention to do the work of reconciliation
ourselves. We believe reconciliation must happen as a condition of the heart.
It is a
process that occurs among people who are willing to face the truth about adverse
circumstances and historical injury and choose to end its destructive course
through reconciliation.
Development is a by-product of reconciliation.
It is the term used to describe the accomplishment and productivity
made possible
by the absence of conflict, strife, ongoing injury and pain. Since
this happens between people, RADCORP’s vision is to facilitate
the process by providing the venues and systems for reconciliation.
Our facilitation of the process is not confined to
the slavery issue. Reconciliation is a transferable concept adapted
to apply
in any context. The success of this model has been well documented
in South Africa and has allowed that country to transition to
Black majority rule through peaceful and democratic means. The
truth
and reconciliation commission in South Africa and its work provided
the spark for the modern reconciliation movement. |
