The RADCORP emphasis is
in having effective programs to help people without creating
dependency. Our objectives center on
raising the
living standards of Africans by channeling good neighbor resources
from people doing business in Africa to ensure the people of Africa
benefit from economic activity and goodwill.
RADCORP’S philosophy
is based on the belief that sustainable development and humanitarian
programs are preferable to programs based on third party reliance.
We believe it is possible to realize benefit from engaging Africa
and involvement on the continent should not be viewed solely in charitable
terms. This is not to say funding will not be required long term,
because it will but not for the same region.
We are developing holistic
responses to basic needs. The idea is to create economic enterprise
as a part of every program so as to ensure sustainability. This
is a great challenge as the Africans themselves must be taught
to think
in new ways.
Africa faces a “Basic Need” challenge. The term “Basic
Needs”, is used to include food, clothing, water, health
care, housing, education and employment. In most countries provision
of these basic needs amount to an economic engine.
The Vision of
RADCORP is to merge investment in basic need services for long
term solutions while responding to short term and existing needs
and problems. Each response will have as part of its initial
planning a course for sustainability through investment in
basic need services. One example would be in providing low
cost housing in Benin and using the profits to provide micro
business
loans
or drill wells
in villages.
Investments in the housing sector are a crucial
need in every African country and are welcomed by most
stable governments
and the international community. The economic stimulation
and impact of a self sustaining housing sector cannot be over
stated. In Benin
for example only 1000 complete units of homes have been constructed
in the last forty years. A viable housing sector serves as
a catalyst for other enterprises:
- Timber
- Building Materials
- Furniture
- Financing
- Cement
RADCORP has set up a number of volunteer commissions to research
and design these programs. They are also incubated in a research
environment before they are considered for full funding and duplication.
Each project or program is designed to be independent and self
sustaining. That is to say each program and project will be funded
as part of its own feasibility consideration. This encourages partners
to relate to a particular RADCORP program without endorsing the
entire RADCORP vision.
Stand alone programs and projects enables
a higher level of transparency, and accountability. This is very
important to funding partners and patrons. In addition proper
evaluation of effectiveness and use of resources have increased
possibility.
This model also allows the programs to be designed around these
watchwords.
Each program must retain a high level of credibility and integrity in representation,
planning and implementation.
Each program must meet the accountability standards of RADCORP,
funding partners, clients and regulatory agencies.
Each program must have an element of self sustenance and hope for
self funding.
Each program must demonstrate that it serves the needs of people
within acceptable success rates.
Each program must be operated in such a manner so as to enhance
RADCORP’S reputation and ability to continue its mission.
A program is an operational system designed to meet objective goals
in situations where there is a likelihood that the need will
continue to exist and on-going action will be necessary. A program
may also be an operational system consisting of more than one
project or objective. A program may be a series of projects conducted
in different areas or targeted at different groups or needs.
A project is an operational system designed to meet objective
goals that have a finite end, because the need will no longer
exist, there is no funding envisioned beyond a finite point,
or a transfer to another entity will occur.

- Youth, Sport and Culture
- Aids Prevention and Services
The funding for humanitarian services is two fold. Since all programs
and projects fall under our program department funding the department
and commissions is key. The programs and projects are presented
to donors for independent funding. |
