Salute

Dhodbnup Tsering will be married this weekend in northern India. As he enters into this new phase of life, I want to thank you for your support of this young man and all the others you help in supporting around the world. After the many things he has suffered for the Gospel, his wedding is a reminder that God is faithful and amidst the trials and sufferings of our walk with God we are also blessed with some very special moments. We are also well equipped with the joy of the Lord, which is our strength when times are difficult.

I first met Dhodbnup in central India on my last visit there. He was among a group of young people in missionary training, who came to hear me speak at a conference for Pastors. There were about five of us on stage that day, all of them serving as interpreters as I ministered and taught from the Word of God. It took a while after each phrase for me to speak again so I had time to look over the gathering. Right in the middle of the room, I spotted this young man whose features and skin color distinguished him from the Indians in this part of the sub continent. He looked at me from his seat with such intensity that I knew his interest went deeper than anyone else in the room.

After the meeting he waited in line a long time to speak to me, even as the rest of his group was trying to leave. He explained he was from the nation of Tibet and had escaped into India where he entered into his relationship with Jesus Christ. He had begun training so he could return to his own people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Cut off from his family and dealing with being alone, he felt he had received a promise from God that he would send him a Father from far away. When he saw me he felt in his spirit a confirmation that I was the spiritual father God had promised.  He has been my spiritual son ever since.
Recently as our support has waned in MAT I have directed the financial support of my own adoptive father and family to him and the work in Tibet.

His work has become over seven house churches. Now his own personal family is expanding, which means so is mine and by extension yours. As Dad he has counted on me to ensure his wedding is underwritten, a formidable task. Without all of you it would not have been possible. That’s why I want you to enter into our joy, as we have our struggles. As I salute him on this great milestone I want to also salute you for you love, gifts, prayers and support for this man of God and all the others in the MAT family.

Salute!
